Atlantic business leaders push a “single economy” vision for the region

A group of business leaders in Eastern Canada is calling for the Atlantic provinces to work more closely as a single regional economy. Their case centres on reducing friction, coordinating growth and making better use of the region’s labour, infrastructure and natural resources.

The idea fits a wider Canadian debate about internal trade. Removing provincial barriers is often described as an economic opportunity, but implementation depends on governments aligning rules that have developed separately over decades.
