Fathers begin supervising students at Louisiana High School and put end to frequent brawls

Fathers in Shreveport, Louisiana, have begun taking shifts to supervise students at Southwood High School after 23 students were arrested for fighting over three days last month. Since the group Dads on Duty arrived on campus, the school has not had a single fight.

In September, Southwood High School saw a series of fights that led to the arrests of 23 students. On September 16 alone, multiple brawls led to the arrests of 14 students, KSLA reported.

The brawls prompted local fathers to take action.

“We’re dads. We decided the best people who can take care of our kids are who? Are us,” Michael LaFitte, the man who started Dads on Duty, told CBS.

Dads on Duty is comprised of about 40 fathers who take shifts at the school, according to CBS.

10-year-old Texas boy dies after horse falls on him during rodeo

A 10-year-old boy in Texas died in a freak rodeo accident on Sunday after the horse he was riding fell on him, a report said.

Youngster Legend Williamson was riding the horse during the Texas Junior High Rodeo at the Beauregard Parish Covered Arena when the animal is believed to have either suffered a brain aneurysm or a heart attack, authorities told KPLC.

The fatal tragedy took place in the warm-up pen, where the horse suddenly reared up and fell on the child, Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office Chief Detective Sylvester Denmond told the news outlet.

American mom trapped by Taliban describes horrific violence, pleads for Biden to solve evacuation crisis

An American mom trapped in Taliban-controlled Afghanistan is worried she’ll never see her kids again and in hiding with family members and Afghan allies – unable to reach Kabul’s U.S.-held airport for a chance at an evacuation, she said Saturday.

“I really have given up hope, given up on the hope of going to the airport,” the woman, whose identity is being withheld due to concerns for her safety, told Fox News. “It’s just not possible to make it through all those people.”

She said there are as many as 20 Taliban checkpoints between her and the airport – and she’s one of an uncertain number of American citizens trapped behind enemy lines.

TONY BLAIR: America’s retreat is imbecilic – and tells our enemies we don’t have any interests or values worth defending

The abandonment of Afghanistan and its people is tragic, dangerous, unnecessary, not in their interests and not in ours.

In the aftermath of the decision to return the country to the same group from which the carnage of 9/11 arose, and in a manner that seems almost designed to parade our humiliation, the question that allies and enemies alike pose is – has the West lost its strategic will?

By that I mean, is it able to learn from experience, think strategically, define our interests strategically and on that basis commit strategically? Is ‘long term’ a concept we are still capable of grasping? Is the nature of our politics now inconsistent with asserting our traditional global leadership role? And do we care?

CNN medical analyst suggests life ‘needs to be hard’ for unvaccinated Americans

CNN medical contributor Dr. Leana Wen suggested Saturday that life needs to be “hard” for Americans who have not received a COVID-19 vaccine and individuals who refuse to get shots should perhaps face weekly testings.

“It needs to be hard for people to remain unvaccinated,” Wen, the former Planned Parenthood president, said. “Right now, it’s kind of the opposite.”

Unvaccinated people, she fretted, can at the moment go about their lives as normal without any consequence.

“But at some point these mandates, by workplaces, by schools, I think it will be important to say, ‘Hey, you can opt out, but if you want to opt out, you have to sign these forms, you have to get twice weekly testing,’” Wen said. “Basically, we need to make getting vaccinated the easy choice.”

Minnesota girl slams school board over BLM posters after ‘no politics’ promise

A 9-year-old student took a school board to task over its apparent 180 on a policy barring teachers from displaying Black Lives Matter posters.

The viral video, making the rounds online this week, shows the girl speaking before a Lakeville Area School Board meeting on June 8.

The student, who only identified herself as “Novalee,” said she saw posters of Black Lives Matter and Amanda Gorman on her teacher’s wall at Lakeville Elementary School. The presence of these posters, she said, contradicted what the school board said at a prior meeting: “no politics in school.”
