Kathy Griffin will not be back as co-host of CNN’s annual New Year’s Eve program
Kathy Griffin will not be back as co-host of CNN’s annual New Year’s Eve program, CNN announced Wednesday. The decision comes one day after photos were released of Kathy Griffin holding up a bloody head resembling that of President Donald Trump.
Kathy Griffin received backlash after photographer Tyler Shields posted the photos on Twitter.
“CNN has terminated our agreement with Kathy Griffin to appear on our New Year’s Eve program,” the network said in a statement.
Kathy Griffin has apologized for the photos. Admitting the images were “too disturbing,” Kathy Griffin said asked Tyler Shields to take down the photo.
Trump family sources told TMZ that Barron was in front of the TV watching a show with Flotus Melania Trump when Katty Griffin’s photo appeared on the screen and his initial reaction was that something terrible happened to his father. Barron Trump panicked and screamed, “Mommy, Mommy!”
Melania Trump called out Kathy Griffin, saying what she did was disturbing, wrong and “makes you wonder about [her] mental health.”
